I’ve only ever had those cheap bendy tent pegs that come free with tents until I bought these. And no previous mallet experience either. Always just used my brute strength grrr or my foot to drive the wispy pegs into the mud. These bad boys by comparison are in a different league. They can take a proper wallop with the mallet without bending or me hurting my foot and allow me to pitch on much rougher/stonier ground than before. I can get these to go into ground that I would not even have attempted to push or stomp one of those lesser pegs into. It opens up possibilities. Winner. And you get a nice bag to keep them in too.
